6 months of current year: Revenue collection of 797.2 million rupees from traffic enforcement
Feb 6, Kathmandu – 797.1 million 44 thousand 852 rupees in revenue has been collected from traffic operations across the country from shrawan to the end of the current financial year. During this period, 10 lakh 52 thousand 55 different vehicles were prosecuted and the said revenue was collected.
Of this revenue, 323 million 33 lakh 70 thousand from Kathmandu Valley, 7 million 87 lakh 2 thousand 943 from Koshi province, 10 crore 5 lakh 58 thousand 901 from Madhesh province, 7 crore 88 lakh 40 thousand from Bagmati province, 8 million 18 lakh 76 thousand 6 from Gandaki province, 9 crore 38 lakh 64 thousand 2 rupees were collected from Lumbini province, 1 crore 56 lakh 45 thousand rupees from Karnali province and 2 crore 42 lakh 88 thousand rupees from Sudurpaschim province. Similarly, 150 million 19 lakh 95 thousand 400 from truckers, tankers, 92 million 500 from buses, 189 million 76 thousand 806 from cars, jeeps, 288 million 16 thousand from tractors, 31 million 17 million 34 thousand 546 from motorcycles and 2 million 53 million from tempo and others. 21 thousand 600 rupees revenue has been collected. The highest amount of revenue is in Kathmandu Valley and the lowest in Karnali Province.
This amount of revenue has been collected for driving under the influence of alcohol, driving at a high speed, not maintaining lane discipline, parking more than the capacity, haphazard parking, charging more than the specified fare, not having the necessary documents and driver’s license, etc.
Central Police Spokesperson of Nepal Police, Deputy Inspector General of Police Bhim Prasad Dhakal said, ‘Police do not just issue fines. He wants no action to be taken. For this, we have been conducting awareness campaigns, conducting regular mandatory classes for traffic violators, etc. to increase public awareness. Using safe and dignified roads, various technologies have also been used to organize traffic.’
Among the 10 lakh 52 thousand 55 vehicles that were prosecuted, 1 lakh 70 thousand 842 trucks, tankers, 1 lakh 9 thousand 377 buses and minibuses, 2 lakh 61 thousand 636 cars and jeeps, 41 thousand 641 tractors, 4 lakh 32 motorcycles There are 98 thousand and 36 thousand 461 Tempo and others. Statistics show that most of the vehicles that have been prosecuted are motorcycles.
The traffic police is working by making proper use of skilled manpower and resources to reduce accidents by streamlining traffic management.
In accordance with the prevailing law and organizational policy, the police has been conducting an effective campaign for safe travel in coordination with the relevant agencies. However, drivers are found violating traffic rules on a daily basis.
Revenue is collected through action and fines for those who violate traffic rules during vehicle checks.
Deputy Inspector General of Police Dhakal said, ‘We are strictly implementing the law. We have prioritized road safety. We are dedicated to maintaining decency in the conduct and behavior of the police. Nepal Police has been collecting revenue not only from traffic, but also from arrests, illegal customs evasion and other actions during the implementation of the state law.
According to section 164 of the Vehicle and Traffic Management Act, 2049, the traffic police can take action from 500 rupees depending on the offence.
